Placerville Assistant City Manager and Finance Director David R. Warren will assume the City Manager’s position on October 4, the Mountain Democrat reports. He was appointed to the position after a comprehensive search process.
Placerville’s current city manager, Cleve Morris, is retiring next month. Morris has served in chief administrative role since 2011.
Warren has worked for the City of Placerville since 1994, though he left for several years to work for the Gold Trail Union School District. He returned to Placerville as an assistant finance director in 2002. He was promoted to Assistant City Manager/Finance Director in 2018.
“Dave Warren has exhibited excellent dedication and loyalty to the city for over 20 years," Mayor John Clerici said in a statement. “We look forward to him continuing the excellent governance the city has experienced during that time and before. The city is facing difficult times due to decreasing revenues and increasing costs. Dave is the right person to navigate the city through these rough times.”
