The Davis City Council is expected to formally appoint Daryel Dunston as city manager at its meeting on Tuesday, August 19. Dunston is the assistant city manager for Santa Rosa. He previously worked for the City of Oakland.
Dunston received his undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia and his Master of Public Affairs from the UC Berkeley Goldman School of Public Policy. In 2023, he was named as one of the North Bay Business Journal’s Forty Under 40.
“The ongoing annual total cost of Mr. Dunston’s contract is $422,755,” according to the Davis Vanguard. The 2025-26 budget allocates $456,077 for the city manager’s position.
Davis’ last city manager, Mike Webb, left earlier this year to serve as Yolo County's chief administrative officer.
