Nathan Bouvet has resigned as Community Development Director for the City of Desert Hot Springs. Last week’s abrupt resignation came as a result of internal personnel issues that Mayor Scott Matas said he could not legally discuss. Bouvet was offered $38,867 in severance, equivalent to four months of pay. He officially stepped down Thursday, 24 hours after his departure was announced.
Despite the announcement, residents of the city can expect to see more of Bouvet in the future.
“I plan on running for City Council in three years and hope my education and work-related experiences will be a benefit when the time is right,” Bouvet said.
Until then, Bouvet will be working in medical marijuana cultivation outside the city. It’s an industry he knows well, having worked extensively with medical cannabis enterprises during his tenure.
