A dog who inexplicably made his way to Crescent City, California after severe flooding in San Marcos, Texas has finally been reunited with his family.
The young grey-blue Pitt named Thor was presumed dead after he went missing following his family’s emergency evacuation in May. So the owners were both surprised and delighted when they received a phone call from Del Norte County Animal Control months later, telling them their pup had been found nearly 2,000 miles away. Microchipping had allowed the animal to be easily identified, according to Animal Control.
Del Norte officials aren’t sure how the canine made his way to Crescent City, but said he was driven at least part of the way. Due to cost concerns, his homecoming had to be delayed. But the dog was finally returned Saturday after spending a month in California.
