The City of Elk Grove has announced the hiring of a new Assistant City Manager, Jaqui Guzmán.
Guzmán will succeed Jason Behrmann, who was promoted to City Manager in 2019. The assistant position has been vacant since that time.
“We are excited to welcome Jaqui to our organization,” Behrmann said in a news release. “She brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and unique perspectives to the position and I am confident that with her help, we will continue to raise the bar in the delivery of exceptional services to the Elk Grove community.”
“I’m honored to join Elk Grove, a city celebrated for its diversity and high quality of life,” said Guzmán. “As I step into this role, I’m eager to work collaboratively with staff and residents to build on these strengths. I’m excited to use my passion for fostering inclusive, community-driven solutions to contribute to Elk Grove’s continued growth and shared vision.”
Guzmán has over 17 years of experience in the public sector. She most recently served as Deputy City Manager in Sunnyvale. She previously worked for the City of Cupertino, San Jose, and the State’s Legislative Analyst Office. She earned her Bachelor’s in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College and obtained a Master’s in Public Policy from UCLA’s School of Public Affairs.
