Eight months after he became Elk Grove’s interim city manager, Jason Behrmann has been selected to assume the permanent position. The city council voted Jan. 9 to make Behrmann’s job permanent. He is filling the vacancy left by Laura Gill’s departure in May.
The vote was 5-0 and takes effect immediately, with a formal contract expected Jan. 23. It followed a nationwide recruitment effort. About 46 people applied.
“On behalf of the City Council, I congratulate Mr. Behrmann on his appointment,” said Mayor Steve Ly. “We are excited to continue working him as the city manager.”
Behrmann joined the City of Elk Grove as assistant city manager in 2014. He had previously held the city manager’s post in Galt for six years. He has also worked for the cities of Dublin, San Luis Obispo, and Bloomington, Indiana.
Speaking before the city council, Behrmann promised to be a champion for transparency, openness, fairness, and inclusiveness.
