The Emerging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) are hosting an Innovation Series beginning on September 24. Instead of talking generally about innovation or trying to define innovation, ELGL will highlight seven organizations that are doing groundbreaking work in the government arena. Each webinar will allow the organization to tell their story and answer questions about the new service or product they are offering.
Founded in 2011, ELGL is a big-tent organization with more than 600 members from 30 states. Our mission is to tell stories about people, ideas, trends and approaches in local government. Membership reaches across all levels of local government from MPA students to management analysts to city managers.
On September 24th SeeClickFix will be speaking about their citizen engagement app, which allows residents to report problems in their neighborhood directly from their smart phone. Anything from potholes to abandoned cars or graffiti can be reported to the city with a picture and address.
Code for America a non-profit dedicated to helping local governments use technology to improve service delivery and efficiency will be speaking on October 8th. They will be explaining their open data and digital front door initiatives, which aim to help local governments use data in new ways.
Social media for neighborhoods is the subject of the third innovation webinar on October 22, when EveryBlock speaks about how their service is helping to connect neighbors with neighbors. The company strives to make it easier for residents to join in the conversation about their favorite places.
Check out the complete lineup for the innovation series, which includes cities, private companies, and non-profits.
