On Tuesday, City News reported that Anaheim Police Chief Raul Quezada was stepping down from the job. Now we know it’s part of an agreement that will cost the city $750,000.
The payout settles allegations that Quezada was subjected to “intolerable” working conditions. Quezada faulted the city for failing to reprimand an officer who made baseless allegations against him and a department captain. $250,000 will go toward economic losses sustained as a result of Quezada’s damaged reputation. $500,000 will go toward other damages and attorney fees.
“This settlement is in the best interest of all involved,” said city spokesman Mike Lyster. “It sets aside a claim brought by our former chief and reflects compensation he could have seen before becoming eligible for retirement.”
