The City of Torrance has selected former Councilwoman Heidi Ashcraft to fill the at-large seat vacated by George Chen when he won election to a new four-year term in Council District 2. Ashcraft will serve out the last two years of Chen’s term.
Ashcraft is a known quantity. She served on the Torrance City Council from 2013 to 2018. She was first appointed to fill a vacancy left by Cliff Numark. She won election in 2014 but did not run again in 2018.
In addition to her time on the City Council, Ashcraft previously served as a trustee for the Torrance Unified School District.
