Fortuna City Manager Arrested for DUI

Officers with the California Highway Patrol have confirmed the arrest of Fortuna City Manager Mark Wheetley on a suspected drunk driving charge Thursday. Wheetley was pulled over for speeding at approximately 7:00 p.m. along State Route 255 near Navy Base Road and jailed on suspicion of DUI. His blood alcohol level was shown to be above 0.08 percent.

This is the second time in less than two years that Wheetley has been arrested for a DUI. The last incident occurred in January 2016 along the same highway while he was a sitting city councilman for Arcata. It ended up derailing his candidacy for the Humboldt County Board of Supervisors.
