Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama has found himself at the center of a potential scandal. The city announced last week that Balderrama is being investigated for “an inappropriate off-duty relationship” with a non-city employee.
The City Attorney’s Office has retained the services of an independent investigator to determine whether the chief violated department policy. According to the city, Balderrama himself notified city leaders of a coming allegation against him in February. It’s not clear what the allegation was.
The chief will continue carrying out his duties pending conclusion of the probe.
