Giving Tuesday is Here! We’ve Got a Few Options for Donating.

November 28th marks the 11th annual #GivingTuesday. This is a worldwide charitable movement, celebrated on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Everyone is encouraged to donate what they can to a good cause, and many companies match donations to increase charitable giving.

Thursday was our chance to say “thanks,” but Tuesday is the time to turn that gratitude into action. Below is just a brief list of charitable organizations and programs dedicated to improving local communities in California.

Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation

Your donation supports LAEDC’s Business Assistance Program (BAP) as well as job and career opportunities for underserved communities and youth. Donate here.  

Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles 

Founded in 1998 by Mayor Richard Riordan, the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles is a nonprofit that addresses issues like homelessness, education and poverty in Los Angeles. Donate here.  

Orange County Community Foundation

OCCF helps support a range of causes, including human services, education, health and wellness, the arts, community development and more. Click here to donate.  

Inland Empire Community Collaborative 

The IECC provides assistance to nonprofits in Riverside County. All organizations seeking assistance must be registered as a 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(19) and provide services in at least one of the five Riverside County Supervisorial Districts. Learn more here.  

San Diego Foundation 

The San Diego Foundation partners with local leaders and nonprofits to improve education, the environment, and quality of life in San Diego. Learn more here.  

City of Long Beach “Season of Giving” Series 

Donations will help support the city’s efforts to provide essential items to the unhoused. Click here to donate.  

San Francisco Foundation 

The San Francisco Foundation is one of the nation’s largest community foundations. Founded in 1948, its purpose is to promote philanthropy and civic engagement to improve life in the Bay Area. Donate here.  

Oakland Parks and Recreation Foundation 

Support open spaces and community activities in Oakland! Click here.  

City of Ventura’s “Santa to a Senior” Program 

Your in-person donation will be received by a member of the city’s Senior Nutrition Program, which serves homebound seniors. See drop-off locations and approved donation items here.

Silicon Valley Community Foundation 

SVCF exists to serve individuals and families, nonprofits, local officials, and institutions throughout Silicon Valley. Learn more here.  

East Side Education Fund

The East Side Union High School District and the East Side Education Foundation are teaming up to help San José students facing housing insecurity. Read more about the campaign to support ESUHSD's unhoused students here.  

Central Valley Community Foundation

CVCF’s mission is to create “a just and thriving Central Valley.” CVCF has distributed over 950 grants in the past decade. Read more here.  

Friends of Tulare Animal Services 

This organization raises funds to help spay and neuter animals in Tulare County animal shelters. Click here to donate.
