The City of Glendale and Arroyo Verdugo Communities are zooming towards cleaner transportation with the help of California Consulting, Inc. The City of Glendale (a CC client) and the Arroyo Verdugo Communities received $34,648,255 for the 2022 Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP) from CalTrans.
The City of Glendale and the Arroyo Verdugo Communities of La Canada Flintridge, La Crescenta, and Montrose are committed to improving the air quality in the region.
The Cleaner Transportation project will electrify the transit fleet, increase transit service, and increase ridership by improving the transit rider’s experience and changing behavior by creating a Climate Mobility and Safety App to provide transit riders with climate impact information.
The project also improves connectivity with regional bus and commuter rail services. Combining the deployment of battery-electric buses with increased ridership will substantially reduce greenhouse gasses in the region where our communities bear a disproportionate burden of the effects of particulate matter on our health.
Glendale operates the Glendale Beeline and La Canada Flintridge Shuttle and coordinates transit services with the regional bus and rail provider LA Metro’s BRT and NextGen Bus, Metrolink, and Amtrak. LA Metro’s NextGen service restructuring was coordinated with Glendale Beeline services. Several Glendale Beeline routes are bus feeders to Metrolink’s Glendale Transportation Center. Future plans include the integration of BurbankBus operations, also allowing for the electrification of their fleet.
California Consulting Project Manager Tracy Yassini wrote the highly competitive applications. Congratulations to Tracy, the City of Glendale, and the Arroyo Verdugo Communities for this award.
