The Goleta City Council is expected to formally hire Robert Nisbet as the city’s top administrator on Tuesday, July 19. His appointment would take effect Sept. 1
Nisbet has managed Half Moon Bay for the past six years. He was previously Assistant General Manager for the East Bay Regional Park District, Department Director for the Santa Barbara County General Services Department, and Public Works Director for Carpinteria. He has more than 28 years of public sector management experience.
“The selection of a new City Manager is incredibly important as this position essentially oversees all City staff and operations. The members of the City Council feel that Mr. Nisbet is an excellent choice to serve as our next City Manager and he is well-suited for this role," said Goleta Mayor Paula Perotte.
"His experience combined with his knowledge of our area, makes him well-qualified to keep our wonderful city moving in a positive direction.”
Nisbet said he was “thrilled” about the opportunity.
The national search for Goleta’s city manager was a three-month process. The city’s last chief administrator, Michelle Greene, retired in June.
The position pays at least $267,000 plus a monthly allowance of $1,295, a $700 per-month auto allowance, and $150 per-month for phone.
