The City of Gridley announced the hiring of new City Administrator Paul Eckert Monday. Eckert, who most recently served as city manager of Mount Shasta, will start his new job on July 5.
Gridley's new top administrator has enjoyed a 30-year career in local government. Before assuming the job in Mount Shasta, he held key positions in Iowa and Morgan Hill, as well as Paradise, Santa Paula and Foster City. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a former college professor with a degree in Political Science and a Masters of Public Administration from California State University, Hayward.
"The Council and selection team were very impressed with Paul's overall reputation for excellence, as well as his financial management and economic development accomplishments as emphasized by community and business leaders, employees, mayors and council members," said Mayor Frank Hall.
Alongside his professional pursuits, Eckert has volunteered for a wide variety of organizations and institutions, including youth sports, homeless coalitions, 4-H, the American Cancer Society and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
