Hayward City Manager Fran David has announced her retirement after more than 30 years in the public sector. David expects to step down sometime in the fall, but an official date for her departure has not been set.
David has held the city manager position since the spring of 2010 and had served as Hayward's assistant city manager for the previous four years. Before that, she was employed as Finance Director for the City of Berkeley. She is also a former Volunteer in the United States Peace Corps, having served in Barranquilla, Colombia.
"Hayward has benefited enormously during the past decade from City Manager David's outstanding leadership and management expertise," Mayor Barbara Halliday said.
