Jennifer Ott is expected to be appointed as Hayward’s next City Manager on Tuesday, October 21.
This is a homecoming for Ott, who served as Hayward’s Deputy City Manager and then Assistant City Manager from September 2018 to November 2022.
For nearly three years, Ott has served as City Manager of Alameda. Prior to 2018, she was Alameda’s Base Reuse and Transportation Planning Director and Deputy City Manager.
Ott holds a Master of Public Policy degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Arts in History and Spanish from the University of California, Davis. She has worked on local government issues for more than 25 years.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to join former and new colleagues at the City of Hayward and meet the immediate challenges and future opportunities together,” said Ott.
Ott’s first day as Hayward City Manager will be December 8. She’ll succeed former chief administrator Ana Alvarez, who resigned in July after being placed on administrative leave. Jayanti Addleman has been serving in the interim role since Alvarez’s departure.
