Dublin’s Economic Development Director is getting a promotion. Hazel Wetherford has been chosen as the city’s new Deputy City Manager, effective July 31.
“Hazel has proven to be an invaluable asset to the City over the years and has led much of the City’s economic recovery efforts during the pandemic. She’s an innovative thinker and has the drive to bring two of the City’s top priorities to the forefront – Downtown Dublin and the extension of Dublin Boulevard to Livermore,” said City Manager Linda Smith.
Wetherford will continue to oversee key economic development projects in her new role. She will be tasked with implementing the Downtown Dublin redevelopment project and the future Economic Development Zone.
Wetherford has spent the past 12 years in Dublin, previously serving as Assistant to the City Manager, Parks Business Manager, and as a Senior Management Analyst. Before coming to Dublin, she held stints in Brentwood and the State Legislature. She earned her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco and is an Accredited California Economic Developer as well as a Credentialed Government Leader, according to the city. Her experience in local government spans more than 20 years.
