Two months after the resignation of former Mayor Tamara Wallace, the South Lake Tahoe City Council has welcomed a new member. Heather Horgan was sworn in Tuesday, December 9. She will serve through December 2026 when Wallace’s term ends. An election will take place the following month.
“The appointment of Ms. Horgan ensures that the City Council will operate at full capacity as we continue to address many issues that are important to our community,” said Mayor Cody Bass.
Wallace stepped down in October after admitting to embezzling funds from a church. A total of 24 people had applied for the vacancy.
Horgan is a registered nurse with Sutter Health. She also holds a B.S. in Environmental Science. Her employment took effect immediately. At the same meeting, leaders voted to defer the selection of the next mayor and mayor pro tem. That vote will take place January 13.
