Tuesday, August 15 marks the eighth annual City Hall Selfie Day. This is a great opportunity to get some social media likes, while also promoting civic engagement and local government.
The tradition started in 2014, but wasn’t officially recognized by Engaging Local Government Leaders (ELGL) until 2016. It seems to get bigger every year.
Here’s how to participate:
- Visit your local City Hall and snap a picture of yourself in front of the building
- Post the photo to your social media accounts using the hashtag #CityHallSelfie
- Tag ELGL in the photo: @ELGLNetwork on Facebook, @ELGL50 on Instagram, @ELGL on LinkedIn, @ELGL50 on Twitter, or @localgov on TikTok
Several cities are capitalizing on this awesome day with freebies. At Palmdale City Hall, for example, they're handing out complimentary ice cream to selfie-takers. Make sure to get there by 11:30 a.m.
