Huntington Beach has promoted its acting city manager to the permanent position. Last Tuesday, the city council voted 7-0 to appoint Travis Hopkins to the role.
Hopkins has served as acting city manager since November. Before that, he was the assistant city manager. From 2017-2019, Hopkins served as director of public works.
“I love this community, and I’ve enjoyed serving this community for over 18 years,” said Hopkins. “Definitely, I wanted to be a public works director, then the more time I spent in this community, I looked for the opportunity to become assistant city manager and city manager. I’m honored and humbled to become the city manager here.”
Hopkins will earn an annual salary of $311,750.
The city’s last permanent administrator, Al Zelinka, resigned in 2023.
