Stingray injuries are on the rise in Orange County and now the Huntington Beach Fire Department is warning swimmers to be careful.
“A record number of swimmers were stung by stingrays on Saturday in Huntington Beach, California,” KTLA reports.
“Officials said 176 people were injured by the creatures after swimming too far into the ocean during a low tide. The warm temperatures brought a high number of people to the water, contributing to the surged number of stings.”
Over the weekend, people were warned to stay out of the water in Huntington Beach to prevent stings. One victim described it as an intense “searing nerve pain.” He later developed a bad infection.
It’s not worth it, folks.
