Yountville Deputy Public Works Director John Ferons has been promoted to Public Works Director. He will replace retiring Director Joe Tagliaboschi on August 1.

“I am honored to be appointed Public Works Director for the Town of Yountville,” said Ferons in a news release. “I embrace the opportunity to build on the legacy of the Town Manager, my predecessor, my colleagues, and the greater Yountville community to ensure that the Town remains the unique and special place that everyone knows and loves.”

Ferons joined Yountville’s Public Works Department in 2019. He previously worked for the cities of Napa and St. Helena. His 33-year career also includes work for three private consulting firms performing engineering, land development, and environmental restoration.

“With this diverse background, John has practical experience in all aspects of public works, including municipal operations, facility management, street maintenance, water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, fleet operations, floodplain administration, traffic & transportation operation, development engineering, capital improvement engineering, public contract bidding and construction oversight, management & inspection,” according to the city.

That diverse background, coupled with his experience as Deputy Director, made Ferons an obvious choice for the job.

“We are fortunate to have developed a succession planning process that will serve our Public Works Department and the Town organization well,” Town Manager Steven Rogers said.
