After three years without a permanent city manager, the City of Farmersville has finally found its match. Hemet Community Investment Director John Jansons will take over the position in August, following a lengthy search.
“I want to focus on a culture that invites different ideas, because you never know when the next best idea is going to walk through the door,” Jansons said of his new role. “We need to take care of our existing business base first and help them expand when the time is right. But we have things to offer to new businesses. We have highway frontage and that is an asset for a business looking for a new home.”
Jansons’ resume includes work for the City of West Sacramento, where he was offered a full-time position after college. He then moved on to become the first Economic Development Manager for the City of Atascadero. After stints with Urban Renewal Agency in Salem, Oregon and the Portland Development Commission, Jansons headed to Banning, California before winding up in Hemet.
Jansons said he plans to construct a 30, 60, and 90-day action plan with benchmarks to present before the city council.
“I’m very fortunate that we have a strong team. They will be a tremendous asset to the departments and I can’t wait to get started.”
