“Enough is enough already.” Those were the words of LA City Council President Nury Martinez when she introduced a resolution requiring proof of vaccination to enter public indoor spaces Wednesday.
“Hospital workers are exhausted, moms who have put aside their careers are tired, and our kids cannot afford the loss of another school year. We have three vaccines that work and are readily available, so what's it going to take?'' said Councilman Mitch O’Farrell who has also signed onto the resolution.
The proposed policy — similar to one being introduced in New York this week — would require at least partial vaccination to enter. It’s not clear whether the final language would apply only to entertainment and hospitality venues only or whether it could extend to essential businesses like grocery stores.
LA is the midst of another coronavirus wave, driven by the extremely infectious Delta variant.
