Laguna Beach has appointed a new acting community development director following the departure of Marc Wiener last month. Wiener, who was hired in 2019, left to pursue other opportunities, according to the city.
“I wish to thank Marc for his contributions these past four years and to wish him well in his future endeavors,” said City Manager Sean Joyce. “Marc is proud of his time in Laguna and of the many friends he made along the way.”
Public works Director Mark McAvoy will helm Community Development on a temporary basis. City engineer Mark Trestik (that’s a lot of Marks!) will temporarily head Public Works.
Laguna Beach is still searching for a permanent city manager. Former manager Shohreh Dupuis parted ways with the city last year as part of a hostile workplace settlement.
