Cities with populations under 100,000 were considered for this list.
A variety of California’s cities made it onto the list, showcasing California’s geographic diversity.
Palm Springs made the list at #28 and is probably the hottest city on the list. That being said, as a recreational hot spot it makes sense to be included.
Wine country made a show of force, as #23 Healdsburg joined #5 Napa in making sure Northern California was represented.
And somewhat predictably, California’s coastal cities took five spots of the list’s thirty total. They include #30 Newport Beach, #21 Monterey, #15 Santa Barbara, #13 Laguna Beach, and #4 Carmel-by-the-Sea.
#1 on the list went to Telluride, Colorado. Santa Fe, New Mexico took #2, and Asheville, North Carolina claimed #3.
