Oxnard chief financial officer Jim Throop is headed to Lompoc to serve as its next city manager. The city council selected Throop after a month-long recruitment process. He is scheduled to take over on July 30.
Lompoc’s last city manager Patrick Wiemiller departed in January for a job in Santa Maria. The city has been managed in the interim by Lompoc Director/Assistant City Manager Teresa Gallavan.
“Throop’s experience in finance and problem-solving abilities made him a stand-out,” said Mayor Bob Lingl. “Our city council looks forward to welcoming Jim to the city, and moving forward with Jim’s leadership in these challenging financial times.”
Throop has 30 years of experience in financial management and served as director of administrative services for Paso Robles from 2007 to 2016. He has a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Chapman University.
