Tobacco smoking is currently banned at Lompoc’s three city parks. But smoking cannabis — and lots of it — will now be allowed up to twice per year.
The City of Lompoc is embracing cannabis festivals and other cannabis events at its local parks. By a 3-2 vote, the city council has approved an ordinance allowing two cannabis-related events per year at any of its three city parks.
An exception to the smoking ban will be made for event-goers and cannabis. Lawful cannabis smoking at Ken Adam Park will have to wait until brush can be cleared.
Cannabis event organizers will need to provide their own security and EMT personnel. City staff will review the impact of each event within 90 days and the ordinance itself will be reviewed by the city council in one year.
