In a closed session on March 23, the Los Banos City Council voted 4-1 to terminate the contract of City Manager Alex Terrazas. The lone no vote was cast by Mayor Tom Faria.
Terrazas had managed the city since 2016. His employment status has been the subject of a closed session meeting previously.
Police Chief Gary Brizzee has been selected as Acting City Manager, effective immediately. This is his third time. Brizzee held the Acting City Manager position from November 1, 2012 to April 30, 2013 and from January 15, 2016 to June 30, 2016.
“The Council is confident that Gary possesses the vital knowledge, skills, and understanding of the City’s operations and that he will continue to lead the City going forward,” said Mayor Faria in a statement.
