Mark Scott Takes Over as Lincoln’s Interim City Manager

The Lincoln City Manager’s Office is undergoing another change in leadership. City Manager Jennifer Hanson attended her last meeting on May 26. She passed the baton — temporarily — to Mark Scott, a 41-year local government veteran who most recently managed the City of Indio.

“I am honored to be asked to fill the interim city manager role,” said Scott. “Throughout my career, I have looked for opportunities to work for and with proud, hopeful communities like Lincoln. The City Council has asked me to use this transitional period to help move the needle on projects, to engage and listen to community members, and to serve as a mentor and resource to the city team."

Hanson expressed utmost confidence in Scott’s ability to lead the city while it searches for a permanent replacement.

Scott began his career in 1983 as assistant city manager and then community development director of Beverly Hills. He eventually took over as Beverly Hills’ top administrator — a position he held for 13 years. Scott has also held positions in Santa Clarita, San Bernardino, Burbank, Fresno, Culver City, and Spartanburg, South Carolina.

“I think we are in a good place to keep moving forward with Mr. Scott and he has incredible experience,” Lincoln Mayor Alyssa Silhi said. “I am excited to have him interacting with staff and the residents. I think if we are going to have a transition, I think it is nice to at least transition well.”

Jennifer Hanson has served as Lincoln’s city manager for the past two years and was previously interim city manager. She has accepted a position as general manager for the Nevada Irrigation District (NID).
