The mayor of a small town in Texas has shot and killed a 12-foot, 580-pound alligator that she believes may have eaten one of her miniature horses several years ago.
How’s that for public officials taking charge?
Livingston, Texas mayor and devoted great grandmother Judy B. Cochran says she vanquished the reptile Sunday with one shot on her ranch in Goodrich, north of Houston. It was a legal hunt, Cochran says, carried out during hunting season and conducted in compliance with all guidelines set out by wildlife officials, including tagging and permitting from a certified biologist.
Gator huntin’ must run in this family’s DNA because Cochran’s 5-year-old grandson killed an alligator in the very same location back in 2009.
Now for the million dollar question: what does Cochran plan to do with her catch? Let’s just say you’ll soon be seeing her in a nice pair of shiny, new boots.
Alright, maybe a few pairs.
