Santee, California recently welcomed a new city manager. Wendy Kaserman assumed the top executive position on October 23, succeeding Marlene Best, who separated with the San Diego city in April.
Kaserman has worked in local government for over 20 years and most recently served as Assistant City Manager of Poway. She helped manage Poway’s $125 million annual operating budget, its $101 million capital improvement program, and 240 full-time equivalent staff.
Previously, Kaserman worked for San Marcos, California and Queen Creek, Arizona. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Arizona State University and her master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Arizona.
Kaserman is originally from North San Diego County. She currently lives in San Marcos with her husband of 30 years and their 15-year-old daughter.
“I’m honored to join a team of dedicated employees who take great pride in serving Santee residents and businesses,” said Kaserman. “As I begin this new chapter, my goal is to listen, learn, and continue building on the City’s strong foundation of service, innovation, and community pride.”
