Randolph Hom has accepted a similar position with the City of Cupertino.
The Cupertino City Council approved his hiring on October 20 and Hom is contractually required to provide the City of Merced two months’ notice before leaving. His last day will be December 20.
Hom was named Merced City Attorney back in Febraury of this year after longtime city attorney Greg Diaz departed for the City of Ventura. Merced City Council had voted unanimously to hire Hom.
Merced Councilman Mike Murphy said Hom had not yet moved to the city.
Hom has earned praise for helping negotiate an infrastructure deal with UC Merced after years uncertainty.
Merced is now searching for two high level positions, as City Manager John Bramble is departing in early December.
