Merced City Manager Stephanie Dietz announced her coming departure last week, calling her time with the city “the greatest honor of my professional career.”
Dietz will step down November 2023. The city has retained Bob Murray & Associates to conduct a search for her replacement.
Dietz has served as city manager since November 2020, but has been with Merced for a total of seven years. She previously served as Assistant City Manager. She has been credited with the creation of a number of programs expanding community and equal access to services and housing.
Stephanie continues to provide leadership founded on fiscal responsibility, customer service, and equity,” said Mayor Matthew Serratto. “She has shaped a responsive and accountable city government and continues to work tirelessly to exceed the council’s expectations for this critical position.”
