Officials in the City of Moreno Valley have been forced to remove a mock edition of the Washington Post that they created as part of a creative campaign to woo Amazon’s new headquarters.
The Mercury News reports that all traces of the WaPo replica -- which stated that Moreno Valley had won the bid -- have been removed following the threat of a lawsuit. Attorneys for the newspaper said the city had violated trademark laws with the use of the fake logo and visage and demanded it be taken down.
The city’s response was curt.
“Ok,” wrote City Attorney Martin Koczanowciz.
C’mon WaPo. Have you no sense of humor?
