Yvonne Kimball is out after two years as Morro Bay’s city manager. The City Council voted 3–2 to terminate her contract during a closed session on Tuesday, June 24.
The council did not disclose a reason for Kimball’s dismissal. Mayor Carla Wixom and Councilmember Jeff Eckles cast the dissenting votes.
Kimball began her tenure in August 2023 following a nationwide recruitment process that attracted 41 applicants. Before joining Morro Bay, she served as city manager of Jackson, California and Bowling Green, Florida.
Under the terms of her contract, Kimball will receive six months’ severance pay totaling approximately $110,000.
