Morro Bay Planning Commissioner Richard Sadowski may have ticked some people off with his behavior during a recent public discussion about a $150 million wastewater treatment plant, but it wasn’t enough to get him ousted. In a 3-2 vote Monday, the city council voted to keep Sadowski on board.
Elected officials heard passionate remarks from more than a dozen residents who criticized what they saw as an attempt to silence him.
“A lot of people feel disenfranchised and feel that this mayor and council do not hear them,” Sadowski said, thanking the speakers for their support. “That passion and being that voice, that’s who I am ... I’m not going to change who I am.”
That’s exactly what the people want to hear.
“Morro Bay needs more people like Richard,” said resident Barbara Doerr. “He can be outspoken, but it’s only for the benefit of this community.”
