Napa Fire Chief Mike Randolph will step down at the end of the year, concluding a 26-year career with the city. Randolph has announced his retirement, effective Dec. 30, 2016.
“Chief Randolph’s contributions to the Napa community have been invaluable, and his strong leadership after the [2014] earthquake helped in Napa’s recovery,” said Mayor Jill Techel. “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Chief Randolph for his many years of service and loyalty to the Napa community.”
Randolph joined the department in 1989 and was promoted to firefighter/paramedic in 1994. He went on to serve as Fire Captain, Battalion Chief, Division Chief and Interim Fire Chief before assuming the permanent Chief position in 2012.
“I had no hesitation whatsoever in appointing Mike Randolph to Fire Chief in 2012,” City Manager Mike Parness said. “He demonstrated for many years his readiness and commitment to leading our fire department and has been a true asset to our organization throughout his career here.”
The City said it has begun an immediate search for Randolph’s replacement.
