In the wake of five officer deaths during heated protests in Dallas, Texas, most politicians have rallied their constituents to come together. But that wasn't the case for Reinette Senum, Councilwoman from Nevada City, California. Senum took to Facebook after the shooting to blame police officers and accuse them of systematic targeting of individuals for murder.
“This was completely incited by America’s police force,” Senum wrote. “They have obviously been given directives to go out there and kill. It's insane and it's meant to create mayhem.”
The reaction of Nevada City Police was about what you'd expect. They were so insulted by the since-deleted post that they issued a vote of no confidence in the councilwoman. Now they're calling for her resignation.
Senum has since tried to clarify her remarks, insisting she was only speaking about corrupt cops.
"The good police officers who are out there doing their job, I have the highest regard for them,” she said.
