May is National Fitness Month. And while we know it can be hard to sneak a workout routine into your busy schedule, the good news is that our cities are brimming with opportunities for an “incidental” workout.
CityLab recently compiled a list of five ways you can use your city to get that heart pumping. You may have already tried some. Others could come as a bit of a surprise.
Our favorite, by far, is #5 on the list. While it may seem obvious, the mere act of exploring your city — or perhaps another nearby — can burn some serious calories. Do it at a quick enough pace and you can skip the planks and burpees altogether. CityLab also suggests taking advantage of public transit with no time to spare, strength training at the grocery store, and picking up trash (another favorite of ourse).
