After six years at the helm, Novato City Manager Michael Frank has decided to call it quits. Frank announced his resignation Tuesday, calling it an honor to have served such an extraordinary community.
“I will remain living in the area with my husband and daughter, spending more time hiking Mt. Burdell, and am excited to explore new challenges and pursue opportunities to continue to serve the community, Frank said. “Our community’s needs have always come first and I know, despite my departure, the Council, our staff, strong executive team will continue to demonstrate that commitment and keep an eye to the future for a stronger Novato.”
Frank has held the city manager position since 2009, having led the Bay Area city through the Great Recession and a series of subsequent financial cuts. He also oversaw the reestablishment of a citywide economic development program to fill the vacuum left by the elimination of the city’s redevelopment agency.
The scheduling of a special session to discuss Frank’s replacement is expected soon.
