Amy Cunningham has been appointed City Manager of Novato. Cunningham, who most recently held the job on an interim basis, was promoted by the city council on Tuesday, May 14.
“On behalf of the City Council, we look forward to continuing to work with Amy on critical community initiatives,” Mayor Mark Milberg said in a statement. “Over the past 4 years, Amy has earned the trust of the public, staff and the City Council with her solutions-oriented approach to delivering services. She has brought transparency to the City’s finances, demonstrated a commitment to public service, and a sincere desire to engage the community on important issues.”
Cunningham will earn an annual base salary of $285,701.
Novato hired Cunningham as its Finance Director in August 2020. She then served as Administrative Services Director and Deputy City Manager before becoming Interim City Manager in December 2023. She previously worked for Half Moon Bay, Walnut Creek, Moraga, and Dublin.
Cunningham holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. According to Novato, her experience in local government spans more than 30 years.
