The unanimous vote approved the increase aimed at bringing a more suitable candidates in for the position.
City Manager Lorie Tinfow made the recommendation to the city council after a review of nearby cities found that Pacifica had offered the second lowest salary for Police Chief.
The old monthly salary range was $12,690-$14,593, only ahead of Colma. Fremont is the highest comparable city offering $19,479 per month.
Pacifica’s new police chief’s salary will range between $13,913 and $16,000 per month.
