Eight out of the 20 “dirtiest” cities in the US are right here in the Golden State, according to new rankings from lawn care professionals, LawnStarter. The company compared the nation's 200 largest cities across 20 key metrics, including air and water quality, waste regulations, and the number of homes with signs of pest infestation.
Each city was ranked on pollution and living conditions and then given an overall score. These were the top 10 “dirtiest” cities, according to LawnStarter:

- 4. Houston, TX
- 5. San Antonio, TX
- 6. New York
- 7. New Orleans, LA
- 8. Long Beach, CA*
