Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford entered a plea of not guilty Wednesday to charges that he illegally received more than $60,000 a year from two local consultants which he then failed to disclose. He is facing five felony counts, plus a misdemeanor charge of using his position of authority for personal gain.
The two consultants, Kimberly Anne Shaw and Susan Burgess Miller, have each been charged with one felony count of conspiracy, embezzlement, and misappropriation of funds. Shaw is facing four additional counts of filing a false tax return.
Ledford was elected to his 13th term as mayor of Palmdale in 2016.
