The City of Palo Alto plans to honor the local university professor who publicly accused U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault.
Mayor Liz Kniss has said she will recognize Christine Blaisey Ford at the City Council meeting on Oct. 29. She has not been able to invite the honoree, however, because her whereabouts remain unknown.
“I have no idea how to reach her whatsoever,” Kniss told the Palo Alto Daily Post. “If anybody hears anything about her or anything like that, actually, we’d like to know.”
Blasey Ford gave emotional testimony last month about the night she says Kavanaugh, then 17, tried to attack her in a secluded room at a small social gathering in Maryland. Her testimony prompted an additional FBI follow-up, but the review turned up no new information and Kavanaugh was ultimately confirmed by the U.S. Senate.
“She must wake up every morning thinking, ‘What good did it do?’ He’s been sworn in, and he’s a (Supreme Court) justice for life,” said Kniss. She called the President of the United States a “despot” and questioned the thoroughness of the FBI probe.
