Back in April, we reported on the lawsuit recently filed against a group of territorial Palos Verdes Estates surfers known as the “Bay Boys.” After decades of alleged harassment towards anyone who dared to cross their turf of Lunada Bay, a gang injunction was sought to get them off the beach.
The city was also named in the lawsuit amid claims it failed to respond to criminal wrongdoing by the posse. But that’s all about to change because city leaders are now coming for their fort.
That’s right. In a unanimous vote Tuesday, the city council voted to tear down the stone fort that the gang hangs out in—and reportedly uses to lob rocks and dirt clods at outsiders. The city was urged to remove the unpermitted structure by the California Coastal Commission. The council’s decision was reached in spite of pleadings from dozens of residents who consider it a local landmark.
With the city daring to go after the infamous ‘gang,’ there could soon be hell to pay. And we aren’t even counting the $50,000 it will take to demo the fort.
