San Gabriel Police Chief Eugene Harris is moving to a larger SGV city. Pasadena City manager Miguel Márquez announced Harris’ appointment as head of the Pasadena Police Department last month. He takes over on Jan. 3.
Harris has led San Gabriel PD since 2016. Before that, he spent 23 years with the Menlo Park Police Department and served as a Los Angeles deputy sheriff. He has 30 years of law enforcement experience and currently serves as President of the Los Angeles County Police Chiefs’ Association. He is a United States Marine Corps veteran and West Point Leadership graduate with a master’s degree in law enforcement and public safety leadership from the University of San Diego.
“Chief Harris is a well-known leader in law enforcement,” said Márquez. “His interpersonal and communication skills and his proven approach to proactive and community policing will bring about the effective implementation of ever-evolving best practices to keep our community safe. I am confident he will lead our peace officers with distinction and will become an invaluable member of the greater Pasadena community.”
