Frutchey beat out 47 other would-be city managers for the position.
The Paso Robles City Council unanimously voted in favor of his hiring at the meeting last Tuesday night.
The hiring comes as the City Manager Jim App is calling it a career at the end of the year, happy trails to App.
Frutchey has got the chops for the gig too, previously holding City Manager roles in four other cities, Pacific Grove most recently, as well as Oxnard, Campbell, and Los Altos Hills.
He is slated to start January 17th of next year, Assistant City Manager Meg Williamson will serve as acting city manager when App retires on Dec. 30.
Definitely something to be thankful for!
The departing Jim App saw Paso Robles through 2012 scandal straight out of the 90s movie Ace Ventura, when Police Chief Lisa Solomon was ousted amid allegations of sexually assaulting her officers. Calls for App’s resignation were heard during the scandal over the city’s handling of the situation, retirement sounds like a lot more fun anyways.
